Electrocardiography – ECG
Electrocardiography is used to record a graphical image of the electrical events that occur when the heart beats
This procedure is normally carried out whilst the patient is fully conscious. Four leads from the ECG machine are attached to each leg of the animal. The electrical activity of the heart is then recorded and this information is then sent to a specialist cardiologist.
The cardiologist’s interpretation can give us an opinion on abnormalities of the heart’s rate and rhythm, and any enlargement of the heart’s chambers.
