Why insure your pet?
Keeping your pet healthy is a priority, and when illness or accidents occur only the very best veterinary care will do. With todays increasing advances in veterinary medicine, the main limiting factors for treatment is often cost.
Should your pet have an accident or serious illness the vets bill for the treatment can soon add up to hundreds of pounds. To ease the financial burden at such a critical time, we strongly recommend that you take out an insurance policy to cover any necessary medical costs.
What to look for in pet insurance
Different companies offer different types of insurance policy. Condition capped policies offer up to £x per condition, therefore if your pet contracts an ongoing condition eg dermatitis, diabetes or arthritis, your insurance will pay up to £x for that condition, once that amount is reached, they will exclude the condition on your policy. Other companies offer £x per condition per year, which means that for the same conditions your insurance will pay up to £x in each policy year, leaving you to pay just an annual excess, and therefore your pet would be covered for life.
Insurance providers vary, so please research this before making a decision - the cheapest is not necessarily the best to cover your pet for life.
